Is There a “Best” Age for Facelift Surgery?

The development of wrinkles, sagging skin, muscle laxity, and various other cosmetic facial issues is an unavoidable aspect of aging for every man and woman. That said, these aesthetic concerns don’t always occur at the same point in time (or to the same extent) for every individual due to factors such as genetics, environmental elements, lifestyle decisions, and more. In addition, an increasing number of individuals are electing to receive injectables and non-surgical skin care treatments earlier in life, helping to postpone the need—or sometimes the desire—to undergo a more invasive surgical procedure.

Taking this information into consideration, there isn’t a definitive “best” age for facelift surgery. In many instances, a facelift might be a great option for one 45-year-old while it may not be appropriate for a different 45-year-old. The same can be said for patients in their 30s, 50s, 60s, and even 70s. Above all else, the ideal timing for facelift surgery will depend on an individual’s process of aging, life experiences, and cosmetic needs/goals.

If you are contemplating facelift surgery, I encourage you to schedule a consultation with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon who is highly experienced in both surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation. Following a physical evaluation and thorough review of your aesthetic desires, your surgeon should be able to recommend and perform the most beneficial procedure for you.
